Andy Whitfield star ‘Spartacus’ dies of Lymphoma

Andy WhitfieldAndy Whitfield, famous for playing the title role in Starz’ drama ‘Spartacus: Blood And Sand’, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday. Andy Whitfield was 39 years of age.

It is our sad duty to report that Andy Whitfield, the main star of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, died of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in the home country of Australia yesterday. The 39-year-old actor is survived by his wife and two children.

Whitfield enjoyed critical and ratings success on Spartacus‘ first season truly after playing the titular gladiator. In March of this year, Andy Whitfield was clinically determined to have lymphocyte cancer and began immediate treatment in New Zealand. At that time, doctors gave him an excellent prognosis having a high chances of recovery.

Production about the second season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand was halted to supply Whitfield time and energy to recover, while using  prequel miniseries Gods in the Arena created like a filler. Andy Whitfield were built with a small voice-only part from the prequel, which ran early this season.

In June 2010, Andy Whitfield was declared “cancer-free” by his physicians and planned to return to the role. “I’m raring to search,” was the star’s official statement, and hubby thrilled fans and media with an appearance for the 2010 Hillcrest Comic-Con Spartacus panel. The celebration wouldn’t last. In September Whitfield’s cancer recurred agressively, and beneath advice of his doctors he immediately began treatment again.

Whitfield would continue his bitter fight with lymphoma for an additional year. Upon his death on September 11th, 2011, outpourings of support from your Spartacus cast and crew were delivered to his wife Vashti Whitfield, who asserted her husband died peacefully encompassed by his family.

Andy Whitfield would have been a relatively new star that has a bright future in front of him. The Welsh-born Australian attended college in Sydney and worked as an engineer through his early thirties before being cast in various Aussie Tv programs. Whitfield’s two film credits are supernatural thriller Gabriel (2007) and horror movie The Clinic (2009).

Spartacus will continue which consists of second season, Vengeance, in 2012. Fellow Australian Liam McIntyre requires above the name part.
